the B-side of club DJs

In each episode a DJ shares a side to their music taste they rarely get to show; not a club set, not what they are usually expected to play. Step into their private world and discover what they grew up listening to, their go-to songs for singing in the shower, their musical guilty pleasures, and more. The music that plays when the after is over and it's time to go home.

Every episode is recorded as a continuous listen on SoundCloud and published as a playlist on Apple Music and YouTube Music. Follow on Instagram and check back for new episodes.

ATA019 with DJ Killing: it is what it is

after the after · 03.09.2025 · all episodes

“As a clubkid I would be out of home from Friday to Monday, exploring parts of Berlin and always with an underlying soundtrack. Coming into Wilmersdorf in West-Berlin after a weekend always felt very special. The shift into a calmer and slower part of the city felt very special. I also always felt that time stood still in West Berlin. I could channel the eighties and also the twentieth century. People still dressed like in the eighties and many stores also had unchanged exterior and signs. Therefore my ears longed for music from the past. I used to listen to Berliner Rundfunk Radio every morning when I went to school which is pure 80s hits. Combining this with my hobby of digging music, this playlist represents songs which are very important to me and which represent my different moods outside of clubbing. If you’ve been a lot around in the world or love to dream a little, take a listen.”
