the B-side of club DJs

In each episode a DJ shares a side to their music taste they rarely get to show; not a club set, not what they are usually expected to play. Step into their private world and discover what they grew up listening to, their go-to songs for singing in the shower, their musical guilty pleasures, and more. The music that plays when the after is over and it's time to go home.

Every episode is recorded as a continuous listen on SoundCloud and published as a playlist on Apple Music and YouTube Music. Follow on Instagram and check back for new episodes.

ATA042 with Annie Lew: ambience of a warm room

after the after · 30.12.2025 · all episodes

“The environment: these tracks bring me to a very quiet & calm part of my day, in a space where I don’t have to do anything but listen. I am in a sunlit room, the light is poured over the rug where I’m lying down and it’s so still I can see the dust particles in the air. These are moments of peace, nostalgia, and anxiety: thoughts can enter at their own pace & they can exist in the past, present, and future. Music that moves me is both comforting and discomforting — it’s ethereal and mysterious, distant and haunting, but at the same time all familiar. There’s an inherent ambiguity in human nature and I feel like the more you try to make sense of the unknown, the harder it is to see how beautiful the ambiguity is… a lot of that ambiguity is explained to me through music.”
